For Data Centers

Data centers refresh electrical infrastructure faster than any facility type we serve — five-to-ten-year cycles that orphan entire rooms of PDUs, RPPs, switchgear, and busway that are barely middle-aged by industrial standards. That gear has strong second lives, and we buy it at the pace data center schedules demand.

Decommission timelines are usually brutal, so start early: photos or the asset manifest to (951) 903-9804 and we'll have numbers back before your migration completes.

Electrical distribution equipment from a data hall decommission

The white-space and gray-space gear we buy

From the data hall: power distribution units, remote power panels, busway systems (Starline especially), and rack-level distribution. From the gray space: main switchgear, distribution boards, dry type and K-rated transformers, automatic transfer switches, and generator paralleling gear. Breakers throughout — from branch to 4,000A mains.

This equipment skews newer, better documented, and better maintained than anything else in the surplus world, which is why it commands strong pricing. A ten-year-old data hall's electrical room is a premium lot.

  • PDUs and RPPs — all major brands
  • Starline and other track busway systems
  • Switchgear, ATS units, paralleling gear
  • K-rated and harmonic-mitigating transformers
  • Molded case through drawout breakers

Built for decommission schedules

Data center decommissions run on migration dates and lease returns, not on convenience. We scope from your asset list, lock pricing in advance, and stage removal crews to clear rooms the day they're released. Badging, escorts, NDAs, chain-of-custody paperwork — standard practice for us, not special requests.

For colo operators and IT asset disposition firms: we slot in as the electrical-infrastructure leg of your teardown, working alongside your rack and mechanical vendors without stepping on their scope.

Documentation you can hand to compliance

Every purchase comes with itemized settlement documents — what was removed, quantities, serials where applicable — suitable for asset-retirement accounting and audit trails. If your process requires certificates of removal or specific data handling attestations for powered equipment, tell us upfront and we'll match the paperwork to your program.

What data centers replace, and what it is worth after

Data center refreshes generate unusually good surplus, because the equipment coming out is typically newer, well-maintained, and documented. Switchgear, PDUs, breakers, and transformers pulled during a capacity upgrade are frequently in better condition than most used gear on the market.

That condition matters to the number. Documented maintenance history, known service life, and equipment that was pulled while functioning all support the top of the range. It is the opposite of the demolition scenario: here the value comes from provenance rather than scarcity.

  • Switchgear and switchboards from capacity upgrades
  • PDUs and distribution equipment
  • Breakers pulled while functioning, with documentation
  • Transformers from electrical infrastructure changes
  • Spare and staged equipment that never went into service

Removals inside a live facility

Nothing about a live data center removal is casual. Access control, escorts, change windows, and strict no-disruption requirements are the normal conditions, and we plan around them rather than asking for exceptions.

Practically that means scheduling inside approved change windows, staging equipment where it does not obstruct operations, and coordinating with facility engineering on the rigging path before anything moves. We bring our own crew and equipment so facility staff are not pulled into the removal.

Documentation requirements are typically heavier here than in other sectors — asset tracking, chain of custody, and formal purchase records. Tell us what your process requires and we will match it.

Common questions

Can you quote from our decommission manifest?

Yes — asset lists with models and quantities get firm ranges fast, verified at removal. That's the normal flow for data center lots.

Do you buy UPS systems and batteries?

UPS electronics and distribution gear, yes. Batteries are handled case-by-case depending on chemistry and age — ask.

Our facility requires escorts and NDAs. Workable?

Completely standard. NDAs signed in advance, crew lists submitted for badging, escorted access respected throughout.

How fast can you clear a released room?

With advance scoping, typically days — we stage the crew and trucks against your release date so removal starts immediately.

Can you work inside our change-window process?

Yes. Approved windows, escorts, and access control are the normal operating conditions for this kind of removal, and we plan the work around them.

Do you provide asset tracking and chain-of-custody records?

Yes. Formal documentation is routine on facility work — tell us the format your process needs.
